The SYM8251D is supported - check out linux/drivers/scsi/README.ncr53c8xx,
linux/drivers/scsi/ChangeLog.ncr53c8xx and the README at
ftp://wauug.erols.com/pub/roudier
where you can also find the latest drivers.
