I contacted adaptec today asking for a bios upgrade so that highbyte
termination can be changed via the SCSISelect utility. No prizes for
guessing their response (-thanks for buying our product but now you're
on your own mate).
I have e-mailed Gigabye to see if they can help with a bios upgrade
-but I am not holding my breath there either.

Yes adding yet another configuration option is bound to add confusion
but if we cannot currently determine the state of the mobo jumper then
I suppose this is what must be done. (I will, however, ask Gigabyte if
they can provide me with programming info in order to determine the
state of the mobo jumper)
I suspect that quite a few others who have purchased this motherboard
would be pleased if this issue was resolved -I certainly see
occasional flurries of e-mail on the linux-smp list concerning this
board.
