Greetings linux-scsi people -

I have a Compaq Presario 4704.

When I boot from LILO into RHL 4.1 I get exactly the
message noted in Section 5.2.7 of the SCSI-HOWTO, ie

pcibios_init: entry in high memory, unable to access

As recommended, I have sought out and downloaded the
Compaq SoftPAQ 0921. But I can find no supporting
documentation on the Compaq Web site or FTP server,
and the .ZIP file contains only a DOS .EXE

I am not usually in the habit of unleashing undocumented
binaries on my hardware, so can someone please tell me -

. does this softPAQ make a permanent change to the BIOS,
or does it just do a relocation in memory until the
  next coldstart of the hardware

. have YOU personally run this .EXE on your hardware with
  no ill effects

Also, it might be that I don't need to worry about the
pcibios_init failure, since the scanpci utility under
RHL correctly reports the SCSI adapter as being present.
Comments?

Thanks for any feedback.
