I've had good success with the DPT 3334UW controller (with EATA-DMA
driver). Note that this is not a controller + RAID module daughterboard
like the 2044, but instead has a faster RAID processor built-in on the
controller board. One of mine has a dual-bus daughterboard mounted to make
3 UW busses.
I'm using it both on a production system with a single UW bus and single
RAID 5 array, and on a test/production system with 3 UW busses and 3 RAID5
arrays.
Both controllers have been trouble free, with the exception of a failed
terminator that caused the inoperability of a whole SCSI bus on the latter
system, but the RAID5 kept everything going until I could replace the
terminator.
If you're going UW, be very careful with the cabling - the ultra-SCSI clock
speed makes it more more sensitive to any cabling aberrations. I initially
was getting lots of errors before getting higher quality cables.
