Just thought I would throw my two cents in...
I have a ZIP drive and a bunch of other SCSI stuff attached to a Buslogic
BT-958 like so:
BT-958 -----internal-68-pin-wide-connector------ Quantum Atlas II UW 4.5G
|
|
| (internal 50 pin connector)
|
|
+-Toshiba XM-5701TA CDROM
|
+-Seagate ST31230N (1G)
|
|
.
. (here the cable connects to an external 25 pin DB25 connector)
.
|
| (this part of the cable is an external DB25-DB25 SCSI cable provided
| with the ZIP drive)
|
+-IOMEGA ZIP 100
|
| (this part of the cable is a DB25-Centronics50 SCSI-II cable)
|
+-HP C3725S (2G) in external enclosure and terminated.
There is obviously termination on the Quantum Atlas II also. Anyway, my
point of this ASCII-art was that this is probably a *way* _not_ recommended
cabling scheme, but everything seems to work. I can read/write to the ZIP
drive all day, and also to the other SCSI devices on the chain. I posted
awhile back about have SCSI bus resets when writing to the Seagate drive,
but those have gone away since I redid my cooling fans to blow in a more
useful direction, etc. Maybe Buslogic is more tolerant of the "cheap"
ZIP connector?
Definitely, isolating the ZIP from everything else would be a smart idea.
I have an Adaptec 2940, but I don't know that I want to introduce that
#$@%$! into the works!
