Hawk 7200rpm disks - stable with Linux?

The newer seagate hawk disks (ultra/narrow I think) seem to be cheap,
but the last cheap SCSI disks I looked at, Fireballs, had (have?) a bad
reputation due to firmware etc when put through their paces under
Linux.  Does anybody have any experience with these, e.g. do I have to
disable any Linux performance features?
