You should supply some details on kernel/scsi driver versions. And any error
messages you've had. Would be more helpful in diagnosing any problems.

Some early versions of the 810a had bugs - like the one I use but it is
working fine in my system with the latest kernel 2.0.32/driver 2.5b or
driver 2.6b(development version) and has for a long time.

Looking at Changelog_ncr53c8xx in ../linux/drivers/scsi the early 810a bug
was fixed in version 1.18b of the driver.

If you're using an earlier version of the driver update it. If you're using
a reasonably up to date version then some details about "doesn't work" are
needed.

Latest drivers are at ftp://wauug.erols.com/pub/roudier
