Hello All.
I've got an adaptec 2920 & a Quantum Fireball (With updated firmware), on the
IDE side, I've got a 2GB HDD & a 8xCDROM. I've also got the CDE from AccelX.
Whenever I try to install it, I go a variable amount of the way through before
the screen fills up with SCSI timeouts. I thought it was a problem with the
Fireball at first, as I have learned that they have a history of problems; but I
read through some old mails on this list about bus timeouts just happening while
an IDE device was busy. Now I'm thinking that the scsi bus is timing out while
the CDROM is reading files. I tried fiddling with hdparm but I couldn't try the
solutions given in the email I was reading (Re: Quantum SCSI and Fujitsu IDE
Interaction from Oct 11) about enabling dma & reducing multiple sector counts,
but I mostly got error messages (I know how to use hdparm too (at least
some...)).
Any ideas? It would be great to use that 3GB fireball, the 2Gigger is at 98%
full and it's getting annoying...
Thanks in advance!
