Hello,
I'm trying to load Linux on an HP Netserver with a pair of SCSI hard
drives, a DAT tape and a Toshiba CD-ROM. It identifies all of them during
startup, but incorrectly specs the two hard drives. Just before hanging it
reports:
scsi1: Scanning Channel A for devices
scsi : detected 1 SCSI tape 1 SCSI cdrom 2 SCSI disks total.
sda : unsupported sector size 620756992.
scsi : deleting disk entry.
sdb : unsupported sector size 620756992.
scsi : deleting disk entry.
Partition check:
sda:<0>Kernel panic: No device passed to allocated_device().
Based on the various how-tos and docs I've tried typing the following at
the "boot: " prompt in order to manually spec the hard drives:
ramdisk hd=30697,171,49 hd=30697,171,49
Unfortunately, this results in the same error, as if it is not accepting
the manual specs for the drives. Both SCSI hard drives have 30697
cylinders, 171 heads, and 49 sectors. I'm attempting to use Slackware 3.2.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Ben Fornshell
