Correction: The correct name of the batch file mentioned in my previous message is \DOSUTILS\AUTOBOOT.BAT (Redhat 4.2 CD). Pardon my confusion. When executed from a DOS\WIN95 command line prompt will boot Linux and begin the Redhat install process from CDROM. If you do not find your exact SCSI/CDROM device listed, try a close match from the list. Worst case scenario, reboot to DOS\WIN95 and try another driver (for generic SCSI cards try the AdvanSYS SCSI driver). Hope this helps.

Garry, I recently installed RedHat 4.2 and had similar problems getting my CDROM drive to be recognized (SIIG SCSI card, IBM CDROM drive). As they say 'hind sight is 20/20', but what worked for me was: from DOS or Win95 command line, confirm that your CD drive is accessible. On the Redhat CD, navigate to the LOADLIN sub-directory and run the LINUX.BAT batch file to boot Linux from the CD (I can't recall to full path name, it may have under UTILITIES). This batch file will start the Linux install process which will give you an opportunity to select a SCSI and/or CDROM driver that best matches yours (for my SIIG SCSI card, the more generic ADVANSYS driver worked).
Initially, I tried to create various boot+root diskette combinations to recognize my SCSI/CDROM and that's where I lost allot of time. For me it was trial and error to get this far, but once I did, the rest of the install was a piece of cake. Plan to cycle through the install a couple of times to get the partitions and your software components configured the way you want them. The Redhat CD is great for its option to boot and install LINUX from CD starting from DOS/Win95. Hope this info helps.

I don't know! How would I check this?? Is it the IRQ that would cause this
conflict. I tried changing the IRQ to 5, but that still didn't work!

I didn't know there were jumpers on the actual CD Drive, but I'll give that
a try. Thanks!
What would I change them to?

But how?? Would these be jumpers on the drive or the adapter.
According to the documentation for my adapter, there are no jumpers to set
the ID.

But I don't do any of this. I insert the CD in the drive and boot from the
boot disk. The install program tells me to insert the install CD in the drive.
It is, so I hit OK. Then I am prompted for my SCSI adpater type. I give it
the parameters (base address, IRQ). It says 'Scanning SCSI bus...' and then
'Initialising CD-ROM...'
Then I get the disk change errors. Any idea what this could be?
Thanks for your help.
