OK, this morning I tried the ramdisk command at the boot prompt four
different times, one for each of the acceptable port-base values (as listed
in SCSI-HOWTO for fdomain.s) 0x140, 0x150, 0x160, 0x170. In each case I
used IRQ 10 and SCSI ID 7. Each time the result was negative! :-(

So then I started thinking that perhaps the card is NOT at any of these
port-base addresses. I fired up Windows95 on the same machine (and hard
drive) and went to the Device Manager where it reported the AHA-2920 SCSI
controller at port-base I/O 6100h-610Fh, IRQ 10 (along with "IRQ Holder for
PCI Steering" whatever that is, also at IRQ 10) and MEM
000C8000h-000CBFFFh. This was indeed revealing, and probably explains why
Linux could not find it! Unfortunately, I ran out of time this morning to
try these new values at the boot prompt.

However, I have a few questions about these findings:

1) How did the AHA-2920 come to have a "non-standard" port-base of 6100h?
Did I somehow manage to screw up the installation of the card?

2) Am I going to have problems in Linux because two "devices" are sharing
IRQ 10? Windows95 seems to be working just fine, though. If so, how do I
change the IRQ setting for the 2920? There are no jumpers onboard!

Once again, thank you for your help.

Regards,

John
