It is probably not the exabyte itself. We have one running here,
just fine, and old EXB-8200. However, it is connected via an
Asus SC-875 (Symbios 53C875 chip), and it was also running ok on
an Asus SC-200 (NCR 53C810) controller before. It looks like a
driver- or controller problem to me. According to the installed 
controller, we are using the ncr53c8xx driver, revision 2.3c .
