Hi again,
The plot thickens ...
I got a suggestion (thanks Tom) that the problem was my kernel. I've now
tried 2.0.30, 2.0.27 and 2.0.26 with no luck.
I've now also been having trouble getting the Jaz drive running under DOS.
It appears that the probing done by the BIOS (before LILO is run) is
preventing the DOS driver from finding the drive: if I turn on the drive
only after I get a DOS prompt, then run the `guest' program, it finds the
drive fine (but gives `not ready reading drive' ...).
Meanwhile, Linux is still having none of it (`scsi : 0 hosts').
Can I tell whether Linux is recognising my card, if my drive may be
playing up? I.e., does 0 hosts mean no card or no devices? I'm afraid
I'm not experienced with scsi ...
Any suggestions would *really* be appreciated.
Cheers,
Nikhil.
