I have the same problem with a 154x. I'd assumed it was a faulty card
(it's a 1542B, but it's been knocked around a bit). My other SCSI card
(an AdvanSys that came with my HP CD-Writer) works fine. Having just
got two extra SCSI disks, I'd really like to get this working. Haven't
tried 2.0.30, but 2.0.28 and 2.0.29 both have this problem.
This is with the onboard BIOS disabled. If I have it enabled, the machine
hangs at boot time, presumably because I don't have a SCSI disk from which
to boot. I can't get my disks to a bootable state because Linux won't
recognise the controller. Catch 22! If I can't get it sorted soon, I'll
consider using the AdvanSys to create a bootable drive, and connect it
to the 1542. I've been warned about potential problems switching drives
between controllers, though.
