Thanks Ben, for your reply. My system is both scsi and eide. I've a
quantum ultra scsi drive, and philips cdwriter on a buslogic bus
mastering BT-948 (ultra scsi card) and a conner eide drive and cdrom.
Even though the quantum is connected, I'm not using it yet for recording
music because I'm waiting to upgrade the mother board and cpu; so most
of the freezing and fatal error messages must be caused by the ide
system as you predicted. So you think it is reasonable to assume that
once I start using the scsi drive for the system intensive applications
I won't experience as much hanging and fatal errors? Regarding the dual
pentium cpus, wouldn't having dual cpus be equivalent to having a
pentium pro or better because twice as many programs are executed within
a given time interval? That's just my gut feeling about that set up. I
would be interested in hearing people's ideas about this.
