I use a NCR810 with three 2 GB harddisks, a QIC-120, an Exabyte and
a GIGATAPE, since a long time now (maybe one year or more) on
a Pentium 100 with Linux 2.0.27 (+ scsi_idle).
Also, at work we use mainly Adaptec 2940UW and I did not
notice your problems.
