I know this must be a FAQ, but please bare with me....
I need to set up a fault tolerant linux server. And I was wondering if
there are any RAID host adapters that are supported by linux. Particulary
the Buslogic DAC series or the AHA 3895. Maybe there is even a better one
that I do not know about.
Also, are these adapters OS independent? Is everything (mirroring) simply
done by the hardware on the card? Will it automatically switch over in case
of a failure?
Maybe someone can point me in the direction of some literature so I can get
up to speed on RAID. I realize the linux does RAID in software, but I think
a hardware solution is better. Price is not an issue here, fault tolerance
is. Also what are the implications, if I decide to run linux on a Dec
Alpha?
Thanks
John Taylor
