I am about to buy a Dell PPro machine with SCSI system disk. The
controller they use is Adaptec 2940. I also want to attach several
external 9 GB data disks to this machine, and in the future 23 GB. I
find in the Linux doc statements that "in principle max linux partition
size is 1 Terabyte. However on Adaptec web page I find "Hard Disk
Capacity: Extended translation supports drive capacity up to 8 GBytes
per disk"
http://www.adaptec.com/deskpcon/d_sheets/AHA2940UWFeatures_spec.html

Can anyone who is using 8 GB+ disks with Linux please confirm that this
limit does not apply for the 2940, or if it does which cards do not
have this limitation?

Thanks, Clem Pryke
