The controller they use is Adaptec 2940. I also want to attach several external 9 GB data disks to this machine, and in the future 23 GB. I find in the Linux doc statements that "in principle max linux partition size is 1 Terabyte. However on Adaptec web page I find "Hard Disk Capacity: Extended translation supports drive capacity up to 8 GBytes per disk" http://www.adaptec.com/deskpcon/d_sheets/AHA2940UWFeatures_spec.html Can anyone who is using 8 GB+ disks with Linux please confirm that this limit does not apply for the 2940, or if it does which cards do not have this limitation?
