Subject: strange problem with aha1542 when compiled as a module

Hello,

There is a strange (and small) problem with the aha1542 driver.
When the driver compiled as a module, I/O errors appear near the end of
partitions.
When it is compiled in the kernel, no problem.

Here is a session showing the problem :

| Linux walhalla 1.2.5 #3 Sat Apr 15 15:34:08 GMT 1995 i486
| walhalla login: root
| [1]/usr/root# modprobe aha1542
| /sbin/insmod /lib/modules/aha1542.o
| Configuring Adaptec at IO:330, IRQ 11, DMA priority 5
| scsi0 : Adaptec 1542
| scsi : 1 host.
| Vendor: SEAGATE Model: ST1480 SUN0424 Rev: 7516
| Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
| Detected scsi disk sda at scsi0, id 0, lun 0
| SCSI Hardware sector size is 512 bytes on device sda
| SCSI Hardware sector size is 512 bytes on device sda
Why is this line displayed twice ?

| sda: sda1 sda2
|
| [2]/usr/root# cp /dev/sda1 /dev/null
| scsidisk I/O error: dev 0801, sector 710520
| cp: /dev/sda1: I/O error
| [3]/usr/root# cp /dev/sda2 /dev/null
| scsidisk I/O error: dev 0802, sector 129000
| cp: /dev/sda2: I/O error
It is always just before the end of the partition.

| [4]/usr/root# fdisk /dev/sda
| Using /dev/sda as default device!
|
| Command (m for help): p
|
| Disk /dev/sda: 64 heads, 32 sectors, 411 cylinders
| Units = cylinders of 2048 * 512 bytes

Have a nice day !
