Hello Anyone
I'm trying to load Linux on my PC for home study for a class, and I'm about
ready to use the CDs for frisbies in sheer frustration. The Linux setup won't
recognize my CD drive as the source. Help! This is what I'm running:
486DX2
8 meg RAM
½ gig HD, partitioned w/ Linux native boot and swap partitions, (80m & 10m)
Blaster CD 4X
Linux ver. 2.5
DOS 6.22, Windows 3.1
I've tried the following:
Several boot kernals: bare, IDECD, SBPCD, SCSI
The SCSI HOWTO advised using an override at the boot prompt:
ramdisk aha52x=0x1E8H,11,7,1
(1E8H being the port add. of my CD); didn't work.
I copied all the dir. and files under slakware/ into my hard drive, (A1,A2,
etc.),
and tried to specify that dir. under C:\ as my source during the Linux setup;
got error msg. that "directory does not exist" (drive specification:
/dev/hda2, dir. spec. /slack, (name of dir. I transfered files into)).
I've put over 30 hours into this so far... where can I go from here?
Thanks,
Jarn Heil
