I'm very happy to have upgraded from an ISA machine (486/33) to a PCI
based machine (P90) last week. But there is one catch: I'm still using
my ISA based Adaptec 1542C...
It seems that the ISA performance of my PCI motherboard is very poor:
I get a maximum throughput of 1MB/sec using
dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/null bs=1024k count=100
This used to be 1.7MB/s on the same disk using my 3 year old ISA
motherboard.
Does anyone have a suggestion (apart from a $350 upgrade) how this
could be improved?
Regards,
