Hello,

I am in the process of upgrading scsi hosts adaptors and am looking for some
input.

I currently have an adaptec 1542cf adaptor and it has been fine but I feel th
at
the performance is lacking since I have a PCI motherboard now and would like to
upgrade. Two questions:

  1) Moving to a PCI adaptor I should see a noticable increase in performance?

  2) Which PCI adaptors have been used without problems?

I have used the Adaptec 2940 but am wondering if there is something out
there with more bang for the buck. 2940's aren't cheap and while the performanc
e
is decent some of the benchmarks lean to buslogic and others.

All thoughts are welcome. I don't want to have to upgrade for a while and
since the only dumb question is the one that is not asked I asked!
