On a hunch, I raised the MTU for the CSLIP connection to 1500 (yes,
both sides :-) Now everything is fine -- which points to some sort of
MTU negotiation (via packets with DF set, which might be getting
lost?) as the likely culprit. I can live with the higher MTU (that's
only 1 second at these baud rates anyhow.)
