Version 0.2 of my netgroup-aware (and "smart") 'rwall' program is
available in linux.nrao.edu:/pub/people/juphoff/nrwall/
Basic advantages over the stock Linux 'rwall' are:
1) Aware of NIS netgroups.
2) Can combine broadcasts to multiple hosts and/or netgroups.
3) Eliminates duplicate broadcasts to hosts (in overlapping netgroups
for instance) unless told otherwise on command-line.
4) Command-line configurable timeout for giving up on unresponsive
hosts. (Default is 60 seconds--same as the stock 'rwall'.)
As with the stock 'rwall', the message input can be from stdin or from a
file.
Still to do: Needs a man-page, ports to other OS's (currently tested
under Solaris 2.4 and Linux). Does not yet do full-domain broadcasts.
More info. available in the README file. I still consider this
ALPHA--it's only a week or so old. This version (v0.2) is basically a
code cleanup from v0.1; there are no new features.
--Up.
