networking problems with 1.3.7

Hi I've had some problems with the networking in 1.3.7
I can't connect to my local irc server, it just sits there until
the connection times out, but I can rlogin into the machine the
server is on just fine. The server tries to ident me, so it may be
a problem with that?
Rebooting back to 1.3.6 and I have no problems connecting to the irc
server at all.
