Are 3com problems solved ?

Hi
I have just installed Slackware 2.2.0.1 on a machine with a 3c509 card
and upgraded the kernel to 1.2.9. I have had hassles with my racal
interlan ni5210 card going 'deaf' but solved that by pinging something
regularly to keep the card 'alive'. Alas this does not seem to work for
the 3com card and it seems to go permanently deaf. Were the 3com problems
supposed to be solved in 1.2.9 or do I need to apply the patches that
were posted to this list recently ... I seem to have misplaced them though
so pointers to where I might ftp them could be useful :-)
