Hi.. I am not sure if you are the right people to talk to or not, but i'll
give it a try... I have a linux machine running kernel 2.0.20.. I have a
sun sparc 5 in the same subnet. I have been trying to use my linux machine
and mrouted to set up a tunnel for my subnet. It works. well not really...
Let me explain:
sd sdr, vic, vat ,wb etc.. all send and receive correctly from both
machines. what the problem is... well... its a biggie...
after a certain abbount of time/packets in/packets out (am not sure which)
my linux box goes into thrash and will eventually panic... I have narrowed
it down to the mrouted.. either in the kernel or in the program itself (I
suspect the kernel) there is a problem... one of them is eating memory... I
think it is the kernel ... even my init swaps out. bad thing. I think
that the kernel is not freeing the packets that it is routing.
I turned off the swap and sure enough... everything begins to complain as
if i have no memory at all. my init says things spawn too fast... my
shell's all quit suddenly complaining about memory conditions, and the
machine generally locks up... I get nastygrams in my syslog too.
I'm not on the list... so please reply to me...
how do I subscribe anyway?
thanks!
