As long as you can stick a layer of crypto in - otherwise you're just
borrowing trouble.
(That is, no long distance connection is terribly secure. Pressurized
conduit across the country? Not likely. Therefore you need crypto for
the link even if you trust the remote host to store the data in
clear.)
