Your right, I am confused. Please hit me with a brick!
I'm only using SLIP because it was suppossed to be easier than PPP.
I'm only using dip because it seemed easier than slattach.
I'm still not sure how to use slattach. According to the Linux Network
Administrator's Guide (Sec 8.2 SLIP Operation) you use the slattach
command AFTER you "have logged into the SLIP server successfully.
1) How do you log into the server from a client PC COM port? Echo the
login and redirect to /dev/cua2?
2) What needs to be set up on the Server to use slattach? I currently
have a separate login name to initiate the dip interface.
Any help or hints are greatly appreciated! THANKS!!

Dip ! I think maybe your confused!, using a null modem cable you only plug
the cable between each other and type slattach ip.client pointopoint
ip.server up\ then route add ip.server sl(x)
and away you go you don`t need a dilaer as it is direct
