There has been a lot of talk about the cost of telecommunications. I
propose that we conduct a quick and dirty poll as to the varioius costs
of telecomunications solutions. If those so inclined will send me what
they know of the costs of ISDN and 56K for there local telephone CO. I
will summerise the info and post it back to this group.

I must admit that part of my reason to get this information is to support
the notion, that what passes for compitition in the telecom industry is
not allways good for the consumer. I live in Canada where the telecom
industry up till recently was largly a regulated monopoly. Over the last
few years I have had a number of discussions with others in this area
about the high costs of telecom services from BELL, and that when
de-regulation comes we will have low rates like the US. At other times I
have had converstaions with people in the US where the issue of telephone
service costs has come up. Most of the time it seems that the costs are
higher in the US than in Canada, when equivilant service is taken into
account.

I pay $102(~$74US) for an ISDN business line:
	no per minute charges
	no per connection charges
	regular long distance rates
access to centrex calling features(most at no extra charge)
	2B channels
1 PSTN(ability to make an outgoing voice call)
	no NT1
	large local calling area
a town with a smaller calling are is currently being chaged $78 for the
same service.

I would love to know how this compares to others.

TIA
