Yikes!! I dont know anything about Tektronix, but Solaris was behaving 
very well with my linux box even from 2.2 (now 2.4 like yours). I never 
experienced any hang like the one you are talking about since I had the 
99pl15 installed. I have a 486dx2/66, NE1000 clone if that matters 
connected over thin ethernet with the Sparc running solaris, 20 PC's and 
a Novell3.12 server.

I guess there must something else involved....
