I think the word "primarily" doesnt belong here, as i have a hunch that=
the
business demand for personal computers and our defense program=20
had something to do with it too. I dont think that Intel and Microsoft =
get too=20
much of their stuff from the academic world.
I was simply making an observation that anyone that has dabbled
in the LINUX kernel should agree is an issue. I would think that making=
Linux
easier to work with would be a goal of everyone on this list.
As for academic research, I would prefer tax incentives for corporate
development
rather that funnelling our tax dollars for academic purposes with large=
ly
mediocre
results. But thats just my opinion.
And Alvin...you need a thicker skin. I listen when someone complains ab=
out how
something was done, or suggests what would make it better or more
useful. Perhaps you should do the same, feeling free to shrug it off if=
you
don't
agree.
