Compiling problems with ppp-2.1.2d

Howdy,
I'm hoping someone can help me out with a problem i'm having with
compiling pppd on a system. I've managed to compile this version of
ppp successfully on 2 other systems running linux 1.2.13 kernel but with
this particular machine, i keep getting a compile error:
bash# make

lcp.c:1520: storage size of `ddinfo' isn't known
lcp.c:1525: `PPPIOCGTIME' undeclared (first use this function)
lcp.c:1525: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once

make: *** [lcp.o] Error
Can anyone help me with a suggestion on how to overcome this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
