I think this is more a rule than exception. I was using Donald Becker's
3c509.c v1.07 in 1.2.13 kernels long before the 1.3 series finally adopted
it. In fact, just today, I upgraded a 1.3.72 kernel from the 1.03 driver
to the 1.07 driver, which seemed to clear up alot of kernel messages like:

Jun 1 02:02:45 irc kernel: eth0: Missed interrupt, status then 2011 now
2011 Tx 00 Rx 3852.

I was getting dozens a day. I've gone 6 hours with none yet since the
upgrade.
