BIG WARNING: i use pgcc to compile the kernel ...
if this is of any interest, then i can dig into reproducing the problem.
It happens quite often, but the network here is very "inhomogen". Once the
card was unusable after 5-6 such messages. (had to reboot)
oldish WD8003 compatible 8 bit card, pre2.0.5 kernel:
