I own a random ne2000 ISA clone. It's a P100 running
linux 1.3.99. So... the problem may be somewhere else,
since I'm getting good performances (at home, no other
machine on the ethernet at this time)... with a ne card.

I'm sorry, but can't find a kernel older than about
~1.3.50, so it's not usefull. Anyway, hope it helps...
