I keep getting a Response from unexpected source ([206.127.72.129].53)
error in my named log. That address has no reverse mapping, but when
I telnet to it, it claims to be ns2.helenet.com, whose forward mapping
is to 204.182.241.5. The host seems to be a linux box acting as a
router AND nameserver. At least, the host is multihomed and the route
to both addresses goes over the same path, and the finger information
on both addresses is the same. Right at this moment, when I try to
force the error by doing a ``dig soa helenet.com @ns2.helenet.com'',
it times out even though the host is perfectly reachable by finger,
telnet, etc.
So, is Linux networking choosing a different IP address for the return
packet because it's sending it out the interface that faces the rest
of the net?
