Well, first of all, U should boot to dos and eXamine the card with the 
setup program that came with it. If the NIC is the 3C509 _C_ (Combo) you 
should first turn the PLUG'N'PLAY SUPPORT _OFF_ then if the TRANCEIVER 
TYPE is set to AUTO SELECT, you should change that to whatever you have, 
for example to BNC. That's because linux can't figure out which kind of 
netcaple you are using.
