I have an Adaptec 2940 that works fine with ISA ethernet cards. I would
like to get a compatible PCI ethernet card. I have tried the 3COM 590,
but I have interrupt problems. The SCSI card seems to want IRQ 10. At
times I can get the 3COM card to go to IRQ 9 or 11 with ether=9,0,eth0
or ether = 11,0,eth0, but sometimes this does not work and the 3COM card
insists on trying IRQ 10. Then, if does not get recognized by the
kernel (all kernels from 1.3.67 up). Can anyone suggest a PCI card
which works well with the Adaptec 2940?

Thanks,

I had a problem similar to this with the AHA2940UW and a CL5434 Video Card as
well as a Diamond Video VRAM Card. All problems disappeared when I replaced
the motherboard. I believe it was a bad PCI implementation - you might check
how the two cards interact on a different motherboard. If it's a bad PCI
implementation then it's anyones guess which cards may work together.
