Rob,
May I suggest "DNS & Bind", published by O'Reilly & Associates, and
penned by several of the people you see frequently (and authoratatively)
in this mailing list.
An EXCELLENT work, it covers every detail of the care & feeding of the
DNS.
And Rob, your statement re: more to it than... is the understatement of
the decade.
