Not sure if this is appropriate...but I just got an old Toshiba 3200sx
portable...and want to put ethernet in it. I have an Artisoft AE2 ne2k
clone card...and a really old 8-bit card (given to me) that supposedly is
an ne1k clone. How bad is the ne1k? Due to limited space, (40mb ide
disk, 3mb RAM), this is basically going to be little more than a portable
linux based terminal for use on ethernets as well as occasional modem
use...it's the best "laptop" I have. I won't be heartbroken if I can't
do >100KB/s over ether.
I've already got the ne2k in it...but wonder if the ne1k would do just as
well, letting my use the ne2k for something better down the road.
