Since the big reorganization of the module stuff, the above complaint
appears every time I boot the machine. I have build modules for Ethernet
(WD80x3 and NE2000), SLIP (CSLIP + Linefill), PLIP and PPP. My .config
file is:

Thank you for a terrific job, and donating it to people like myself!
PS: I noticed a while back that if you build, say, PPP into the kernel,
slhc.o wil be builtin too, but doesn't show its symbols to the
outside. This breaks SLIP as a module. A similar thing happens with
PLIP builtin vs. lp as a module. I'd suggest that "service" modules
(slhc, 8390, whatever underlies PLIP and lp) allways export their
symbols if they are built into the kernel. That way you allways can
compile and load other modules over them later.
