network problems

I have been having many network problems, e.g. socket destroy delay
(r=0, w=256), and dropping of the network.

I noticed that, for debugging purposes, I had been starting rc.inet1, rc.inet2
several times, so that there were several inetd, syslogd,
etc. processes. Could this have caused the problem? I turned the
extra ones off, and, so far, so good.

On the SUN, the system complains about addresses already in use, etc,
when several inetd processes are running. If this is unhealthy, perhaps
there should be some error reporting so this can be identified more
easily.

Cheers,

-sen
