I have been trying to set up a firewall with my linux box, but I can't
get it to recognize both ethernet cards.
I would like to know some examples of hardware analogous to mine (if it
exists) in which this is working.
I have a Gateway Pentium (P-133), with Adaptec 2590 SCSI drive. I have
three ethernet cards available: NE2000 clone (ISA), Western Digital
(ISA), and 3COM 590 (PCI). I am using kernel 1.3.73. So far, I cannot
get the kernel to recognize any pair of cards.
If I put the two ISA cards in, it only sees the Western Digital. If I
put the 3COM in with one of the others, then both cards are seen, then
both cards are seen, but the system won't pick valid IRQ's.
I have tried to boot with
LILO: linux ether=9,0x300,eth0 ether=11,0x280,eth1
and also
LILO: linux ether=9,0,0,0,eth0 ether=11,0,0,0,eth1
and various other addresses and interrupts. Can't get it to work yet.
What is out there that *does* work?
Thanks,
-sen
