Hi all. Silly me just realized that we have placed a linux box
on a segment of network that has two gateways. One goes to the
internet and the other goes to other network segments within the
College lan. I also realized that I wasn't sure anymore that I
had the networking set up right now that I knew this. :)

I looked in the NET-2-HOWTO, but I didn't see anthing that was
clear on this type of situation. I would say that both gateways
get about equal traffic from the Linux box. Am I correct in
assuming I can have only one default gateway? What should I do
about the other (just let it do discovery like it has all
along?)?

Am I also correct in assuming that I take a network performance
cut by only having one gateway specifically entered into the
routing table?

I'd really like to make my net setup as correct as possable. We
have heavy traffic on our lans and don't really need extra info
floating around that could be avoided.

Thanks for all of your time and bandwith. Vermont Winter is
over, so please hold onto your flames until November when they
can help heat my house.

Wayne
