Ehm... Ed...

It will not help you to get a lower-loss coax.  The coax length is
limited mainly by propagation delay and reflection issues, not loss.
The three coax standards for Ethernet are 10Base-2 (thinnet), 10Base-5
(thicknet) and 10Broad-36 (Ethernet over CATV).  I wouldn't try to
invent your own unless you're prepared to fail and waste some
perfectly good coax, or you are willing to go and do all the
calculations from scratch (and still have a proprietary solution).

If you need longer distances than 10Base-5 permits (500 m, plus a 50
m AUI cable) you really should consider fiber; 10Base-F permits 2 km
runs and feeds off standard AUI ports.  10Base-F transceivers aren't
even that expensive.
