FWIW the net stuff caused me some trouble. I'm running kernel 1.3.60, and
I installed all 3 of those packages, and next time I rebooted nfsd complained
about something, and I got errors about the portmapper not working, and
couldn't get any packets into or out of the machine via ethernet. So
I copied the old ones back (thank goodness it backed them up to *.old) and
everything's OK again. The rest of the system is stock slackware 3.0.
I also still can't compile things (like the net-tools, or kernels) on that
machine; I had to compile them on the other one, then copy the entire source
tree to the machine I wanted to use them on, then "make install". When trying
to compile on "electron" I get an error about some .h file being missing
in the linux source tree (version.h, that was it) (but I don't know why,
the rest of the source is all there, oh, is that one created by make config
or something like that?) Anyhow if that doesn't get it, it will eventually
have the error about too many levels of #includes. So in the mean time
I've been compiling on "positron" and nfs-ing the results over. (I can't wait
for Linux 2.0 and the next slackware that uses it...) Maybe after we have
another stable kernel release (1.3.66 bugs get fixed) somebody could tell me
all the steps necessary to get from slackware 3.0 to a state where the AX.25
stuff, IP masquerading, ethernet, nfs, etc. all work at the same time
(imagine that). And then I will stop screwing with things for a while.
