I have a modified version of one of these drivers (John Sullivan's) which 
works for me under 1.3.x.  I still get 'CU wedged' messages from time to 
time, and lockups very occasionally, but it's an awful lot better than it 
used to be.  When I get time I will tidy it up a bit further -- the 
initialisation code is still suspect to say the least.
