Are you sure you have this right? I thought it worked the other
way around and that an explicit map of all zeroes meant "do not
escape anything" and that no asyncmap arg at all meant "escape
everything".
Yikes - mea culpa, on referring to the man page it appears you are
correct. Sorry for the misinform.
