Hi,
I scanned the list archives, and couldn't find a similar
problem/solution so:
I'm running a 1.2.13 kernel, compile/linked as elf (i.e., Slackware
3.0, gcc 2.7.x, etc); PPP wasn't working very well out of the box
(e.g., proxy arp was broken, etc).
I installed the latest version of ppp (v2.2.0e), added the requisite
patch for the mod_usr_count problem, and got the kernel to
successfully compile and run.
However, when I try to invoke pppd, I get the following error:
Sorry - PPP driver version 0.0.0 is out of date
...now, when I checked both the pppd binary, and the .o files in the
kernel tree, they assert that they are version 2.2. The only
strangeness I can see is that the kernel boots and reports the PPP
driver as follows:
PPP: version 0.2.7 (4 channels) NEW_TTY_DRIVERS OPTIMIZE_FLAGS
Did I miss something really obvious..? Any insights would be greatly
appreciated...
Please repsond directly to me (majordomo hasn't processed my
'subscribe' yet), I'll summarize to the list as necessary..
Thanks!
David
